Debriefing

WHAT IT IS
Part education, part therapeutic service, debriefing is a facilitated conversation with your staff or group to review what happened and receive information about critical incidents, common experiences, and sources for help.

Debriefing provides staffs and groups with an opportunity to re-connect intentionally after the severe organizational disruption of collective trauma.

HOW IT WORKS
Generally, debriefing is provided by two ICTG representatives in person over at least a couple of hours.

Assessment

WHAT IT IS
Assessment involves a process of identifying what happened, who was impacted, and what services can be helpful across an estimated trajectory of restoration. It also can include preparedness planning. It is an interactive process in which leaders participate to gain trauma understanding and learn how best to resource their organization, group, or community.

WHAT IT DOES
An assessment usually starts with a series of inquiring conversations with persons most directly involved and with persons who are decision-makers. It progresses to the creation of summary and, often, a care plan. It tends to precede coaching.

HOW IT WORKS
Generally, an assessment is provided by one or more ICTG representatives in person, and in conversation with persons most directly involved with what happened and with persons who are decision-makers within the organization.

Preparedness

WHAT IT IS
As an education service, preparedness involves the provision of mental, emotional, or spiritual care information and skill-building through seminars, workshops, or other types of gatherings.

Preparedness services usually start with scheduling a training event, which includes current information, data, and best practices for understanding trauma among groups and gaining abilities to cope.

Coaching

WHAT IT IS
Part education, part therapeutic service, coaching is an in-depth, personalized training for leaders to gain trauma preparedness skills and learn to respond more effectively within your organization, group, or community.

Coaching usually starts with an assessment, progresses to the creation of a development and care plan, and then to routine checkins and final assessment on the progress.

Generally, coaching is provided by one or more ICTG representatives in person or via phone or video conferencing. We provide both individual coaching and group coaching options.

Counseling

WHAT IT IS
The Institute provides a range of therapeutic services including counseling and spiritual direction. As a therapeutic service, counseling or spiritual direction may involve confidential mental, emotional, or spiritual care through regular sessions to explore what has happened and strategize healthy and effective forms of coping.

These therapeutic services usually start with an initial consultation and intake, progresses to guided explorations of what has happened and establishment of meaningful goals, and then to routine checkins and assessment on the progress of therapy.

Long Term Recovery Advising

WHAT IT IS
As either an educational or coaching service, long term recovery advising involves the provision of information related to best, or current and evolving, practices of organizing and strategically planning care for groups or communities impacted by disaster.

One or more community leaders usually initiates Long Term Recovery Advising by contacting an Institute representative to learn more about common long term recovery trends and best practices, especially related to mental, emotional, and spiritual care.

Internships

WHAT IT IS
As an educational service, internships are personalized training opportunities to gain skills and receive mentoring in assessing collective trauma, facilitating solutions, and personal coping strategies.

An internship usually begins with identifying goals which relate to the student's vocational interests interface with the Institute's mission, progresses to strategizing achieving goals, and assessing accomplishments.
